Privacy Policy
effective 28 August 2026
This policy explains what My Library of Openings (“MyLO”, “we”) collects when you use the app at www.mylibraryofopenings.com, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. The short version is that we collect what the app needs to work and nothing more, and you can delete all of it yourself at any time.
What we collect
When you create an account we store your username, your email address, and your password. Passwords are stored hashed. We never see or store the plain text.
As you use the app we store the chess content you create, which includes repertoires, traps, folders, bots, saved games, training history and accuracy records, move notes, flagged variations, and any ratings you give to published repertoires.
Our hosting providers keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses and request timestamps) as part of running the service.
What we do not collect
We do not run ads and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. We do not load third party ad trackers on any page.
Where your data lives
Your account and chess content live in our database, hosted on Railway. The app itself is served by Vercel. If you install MyLO as an app or use it offline, a copy of your repertoires and traps is kept in your own browser so pages can load without a connection. That local copy is cleared whenever you log out.
Publishing is public
Repertoires stay private unless you choose to publish them. If you publish one, its name, description, moves, and your username become visible to everyone, and other players can pull, fork, and rate it. Unpublishing removes it from the public library.
We only send transactional email, such as a password reset when you request one. No newsletters, no marketing.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from the Settings page. Deletion purges everything we hold about you, including games, repertoires, folders, traps, training history, bots, notes, and accuracy records. There is no soft delete and no retention window on our side.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will note it on this page with a new effective date. Questions about your data are always welcome through the contact page.
